The Two-crystals monochromator is the second optical element of the beamline (after the first mirror) and it is positioned at a distance of 29.76 m from the source. It is a double-crystal fixed-exit Bragg monochromator equipped with two Si(111) crystals and working in the energy range of 8-18 keV.

  • The first crystal is cooled with liquid nitrogen to ensure a good stability of the beam.
  • This second crystal is water cooled and is in charge of sagittal focusing.
